The short life of PSP-3000 also called PSP-"Brite"

After the announcement of launching PSP-3000 or the PSP-"Brite" due to its more vibrant screen, many gamers are concerned about the battery life span of the PSP 3000. For them more vibran screen will mean shortening the 5 hour battery life of the PSP 3000. Usually the display is one of the biggest component of any gaming system that drains power of batteries. Concerns were further raised when news went out that Sony is pulling the official first-party extended life battery pack from shelves. This means that gamers would not be able to buy a bigger battery that can compensate for the larger drain on power caused by brighter screen on the new PSP 3000.

Sony clarified that gamers can still enjoy the new PSP 3000 like the current PSP slim which is about 4 to 6 hours for games. This will surely make every PSP fan think twice before getting the new PSP 3000. I know that it's worth having a more clearer and vibrant screen but would it be enough if i can only enjoy the PSP 3000 in less than 5 hours? Even the current 5 hour lifespan of the current PSP is not enough for me and I am sure I will not enjoy the the new PSP 3000 if it will have a battery life span of less than 5 hours!

“Following an interview we recently did with Gamespot. I’d like to make a correction and clarify that the new PSP will have equivalent battery life to the current PSP, about 4 to 6 hours for games and about 4 to 5 hours for UMD videos. While the enhanced screen of the new PSP draws a little more power, our engineers in Japan worked to reduce the power consumption of the overall system including its components, so you won’t have to worry about losing any time when enjoying the more vibrant visuals displayed with the new PSP.”

Big plans of Sony for PlayStation Portable

We've seen convergence of other technologies like camera and skype to our PSP camera but SONY'S PSP is still not being used to its full potential. This claim does not only come from avid game experts but from within Sony itself.

But all of these will soon change. New features will be added to the miniature console playstation portable (PSP) that could transform the way we use our PSP and SONY are also preparing bigger changes for next year.

The PSP is more than just a games console and in additions it can also be used for internet surfing, free call-making, messaging-sending, free download of games, live television-screening machine that you shouldn't leave home without.

According to Sony they are starting revolutionary changes after they release their new version of the hand-held console, called the PSP-3000. The new PSP-3000 looks almost identical to the Slim & Lite version of last year, although its form hides three important additions.

For more detailed comparison check my previous post here:

Sony also updated the software for the PSP gadget adding, among other things, direct access to a game download store where you can download games, free game demos, movie trailers or even free PSP wallpapers. I think that downloading games directly to PSP is a nifty updated from Sony but I dont think this will stop people from getting Illegal downloaded games from their PSP 3000 homebrew.

Another nifty PSP software update is they added a full-size, onscreen keyboard to make entering text easier and a sleep timer that can be used during music playback. Well that will surely make it easier for those who use the GO messenger to send messages to their friends.

For finale... Sony will also add one more important function to the PSP which will turn your PSP into a miniature television in the first half of 2009. The new service will be called PlayTV which will let you access these downloads over the internet or play live television on the small screen.

"You will be able to access them via any wireless internet hotspot, so basically your PSP turns into a portable TV screen," Ephraim says. "That's when we're going to make a concerted effort to communicate all the incredible features of the PSP: watch TV, Skype, download games, everything."

Who don't want that? But here in our country where dial connection is faster than wireless internet hotspot that can surely give you some head ache unless you have your own internet connection at home and make it wifi... but wait I dont think you will be using your PSP to surf the net at home since you already have a desktop or laptop.

PSP is really becoming a more versatile device. It's like you have your small desktop in your pockets. I hope I will see more applications developed specifically for PSP so we can also use it for office automation... That will be cool... If that happens I can have an excuse why I am using my PSP... If you have the dough to buy the new PSP-3000 then buy one and hopefully you wont forget to post here your experience with your new PSP 3000.

The new PSP-3000 features

The new PSP-3000 will soon be released and listed here are the features of the new PSP-3000 compare to the old (ouch!) PSP.

1. The screen of the new PSP-3000 is noticeably brighter. If you also have a PSP slim like me, i bet one of your complaints is its outdoor performance. Sony has increased the screen's brightness and colour gamut of the new PSP-3000 which makes the screen noticeably more vibrant, less prone to glare and movies and photos look more realistic.

2. The new PSP-3000 features a built-in microphone for the first time which makes Skype internet calls easier. The built-in microphone of the new PSP-3000 can also be used in games such as the shooter US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo and the language translation game TalkMan.

3. If you enjoy playing on the big screen the new PSP-3000 can now plugged into any TV, including non-HD models, so you can play games on the big screen.

Other noticeable changes includes a smaller chrome ring on the back and a PlayStation logo on the Home button. According Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand managing director Michael Ephraim says the changes they made to the new PSP - 3000 are not designed to convince the current users of PSP slim to upgrade their consoles, but are part of Sony's larger plan for the PSP.

Here's PlayStation Portable existing features

* Web browser: View the World Wide Web with the PSP's built-in browser
* Game downloads: Access the PlayStation Store from the console for direct game, demo and wallpaper downloads
* Skype: Service offering free internet calls from your PSP to any phone
* Internet Radio: Access hundreds of internet radio broadcasts via ShoutCast
* RSS Reader: Update alerts of websites and blogs
* Camera: Go! Camera accessory fits to the top of the PSP for use as a camera.
* Photos, videos & music can be stored on a PSP memory card and played on screen
* Go! Messenger: an internet text and video message service for the PSP.
* Play TV: To arrive in 2009, the service will transform the PSP into a miniature TV.

Here are some images of PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 you can clearly see the difference in their LCD's.

Smaller and faster gadgets

Your next MP3 players, mobile phones and other gadgets could become smaller, faster and more energy efficient. Let's not stop there, future gadgets could have improved battery life and a lot cheaper. All thanks to a new computer design technique created by Edinburgh scientists.

They have developed a way to cut production costs and make the modern technology more efficient using their new computerized design process. With their new computerized design process they will able to provide the optimum result for a specific function and identify which combination of components can be used that can give them good performance and energy efficiency.

Dr Timothy Jones, of Edinburgh University's school of informatics, who led the research, said: "Using our method would enable designers to choose the best combination of components for their needs. For consumers, this means faster, smaller devices, producing less heat and with improved battery life."

This means that designers can now use this tool to pinpoint which processor they can use with which compiler to meet their requirements for new, improved products for the market. The development of this tool can also be used to extend battery life and cut production costs.

Cheap Halloween Costumes

If you are looking for a cheap Halloween costumes here's a simple great idea you can try.

Can of Worms
- Cut a hole in the bottom of a pop-up hamper. You can find these at any adiscount stores. Then Spray paint it silver to make it look like a can. You should also make a jagged lid from the cardboard and glue it to a headband. You can write "Can of Worms" or any brand to make it more funny Halloween costume. You can use old pantyhose for the worms and stuff it with pillow batting or other materials you can find in your home. Spray paint the worms (use different colors) and put buttons on the head for the eyes. You can dress in black or use a body makeup and your good to go!

Bubble Bath
Cut a hole in the bottom of a laundry basket. Cover the sides with material or poster board to make it look like a bathtub. Glue an empty bubble bath bottle, a rubber ducky and other bathtub toys to the "tub." Put on a bathrobe, shower cap and slippers and step into the tub. Fill the tub with "bubbles" made of shiny pink, clear or white balloons.)

Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao Betting Odds

Pinoy's love boxing and we are one of the world's best producers of good boxers... Manny Pacquiao is one of the best boxers that our country has ever produced. Our world will stop whenever there is a Pinoy boxer like Manny Pacquiao is on stage and getting ready for his fight. Im sure one of you have seen Pacquiao vs Barrera and his other fights as well. Now Manny Pacquiao is facing another battle. This time Manny Pacquiao will be facing Oscar De La Hoya and fight.

Dont forget to place your bet between Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao in our Poll? Who do you think will win their fight this coming December? First, answer our poll before you read...

Oscar De La Hoya with 39-5-0, 30 KOs standing will be fighting Manny Pacquiao 47-3-2, 36 KOs standing on December 9, 2008. These two fighters are the most prominent fighters of our time. Oscar De La Hoya does not plan to retire after he fight Manny Pacquiao aside from that he still want to fight at least a few more times after his December 9th match at Las Vegas against the hard-hitting Filipino Manny Pacquiao.

“There’s no doubt about it. My mind can still do it, my body can still do it, I’m going to ride the wave for a little while,” Oscar De La Hoya said.

There is no question that Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya are the two biggest names in the boxing world today. There were around 5,000 fans get together just to get a glimpse of their boxing heroes.

The Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao figth will be watched “live” at the venue. $17 million for tickets were sold out and an estimated of $2 million for the pay-per-view buys aside from a worldwide audience on free TV.

Here in the Philippines Solar Sports will telecast the fight card on what will presumably be a delayed basis over Solar Sports cable channels and GMA 7 on free TV. I bet Filipino people will stop whatever they are doing on that day just to watch Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao fight.

Fake YouTube pages used to spread viruses

I saw this news at GMANEWS.TV its scary how criminals are getting better at creating bogus site like youtube and using it in their own agenda. Read the rest of the news and you will surely think twice before you click another link again.

SAN FRANCISCO - Savvy Internet users know that downloading unsolicited computer programs is one of the most dangerous things you can do online. It puts you at great risk for a virus or another time bomb from a hacker.

But even some sophisticated surfers could get taken in by a sneaky new attack in which criminals create fake YouTube pages — dead-on replicas of the real site — to push their malicious software and make it look like it's safe stuff coming from a trusted source.

A program circulating online helps hackers build those fake pages. Users who follow an e-mail pointing them to one of the pages would see an error message that claims the video they want won't play without installing new software first. That error message includes a link the hacker has provided to a malicious program, which delivers a virus.

Even worse: once the computer is infected, it's simple for the hacker to silently redirect the victims to a real YouTube page to see videos they were hoping to see — and hide the crime.

"It's spot-on accurate, and that is scary," said Jamz Yaneza, threat research manager for security software company Trend Micro Inc. "If I were watching YouTube videos all day I would probably click on this one."

The tactic itself isn't new: There's a constant push by criminals to build more convincing spoofs of legitimate sites to trick people into downloading harmful software. And the latest attacks don't target any vulnerability in the YouTube site.

But it highlights the fact that criminals are getting better at creating bogus sites and developing so-called "social engineering" methods to fool people.

Fortunately, truly alert Internet users can still see the telltale warning signs with the fake YouTube pages. For one, the Web browser won't show the real YouTube's Internet address. And to even see the malicious page, you have to first follow a link that's sent to you, which is often a tip-off that you should independently verify whether the site is legitimate.

Prudential life - Datamex SCAM

Last friday, I got a call from somone named Dennis asking where my sis. I told him she's not around and if he have any message I will just take note of it. He told me he is a Prudential life employer in Makati and my sis won free tuition fee for a 2 year course in Datamex. All she have to do is claim it to their office somewhere (he even gave their number 7961757).

I know instantly that it is a scam... my instinct told me not to trust this person... Since i dont have anything to do i decided to play along.

Me: How my sister can claim the price.
Dennis: she only need to present 2 goverment id's and a credit card. You can even claim it for her.
Me: I said ok. But i dont have any id's of sister here...
Dennis: Just bring 2 id's and a credit card.
Me: I only have 1 id.
Dennis: That's ok as long as you have a credit card for verification.
Me: What if i dont have a credit card? Can i use 5 goverment id's instead of the credit card?
Dennis: No. The credit card is needed for the verification...
Me: You can use all of the 5 government ids to verify my identity.
Dennis: Blah, Blah Blah,

By this point i lose all interest to listen to his explanation so i just plainly told him that i will tell my sister about the price she won. I checked Google if there's any information available about Prudential life and Datamex promos or scam and i end up stumbling these infos...

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone

Will the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone bring down the ever famous Apple iPhone? Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone will surely give Apple's iPhone and iTunes a combo punch with its new touchscreen-based, music-centric smartphone and a free music download service. Did i already say FREE MUSIC DOWNLOAD SERVICE?

The new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone and the "Comes With Music" service was launched today at a London. Nokia, the world's largest phone maker, also seized the perfect opportunity to emphasize the operating system they used for the new 5800 XpressMusic which is built on the newest version of Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) S60 Symbian platform. This serves as an indication that they have advanced features that they are going to deliver through this new OS.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic or The Tube which industry watchers had believed would be called includes some nifty advancement designed to make Nokia reign over larger share of the market for high-end, feature-packed phone market. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will surely be compared to Apple’s iPhone and T-Mobile’s HTC G1 (powered by the Google Android operating system).

The 5800 XpressMusic will be Nokia's first mass-market device with a touch screen just like with iPhone and the G1. It also features a drop-down menu so you can easily access your music files and also one-touch access to a Web browser and other applications. The user interface also provides a widescreen display that looks similar to the iPhone's and G1's designs.

Surely Nokia's 5800 XpressMusic or The Tube or whatever they may want to call it will be one of the main competitors of Iphone and G1. Will it bend iPhone's dominance today or will G1 take's the lead to the increasing demand for smart phones?

Third Eye Blind joined many Filipino beer lovers in welcoming the San Miguel Oktoberfest which is one of the biggest and grandest events in the Philippines.

Semi-Charmed Life, Graduate, Losing a Whole Year and How's It Going to Be are some of Third Eye Blind's famous music hits.
