Michael Jackson's choreographer admits to being in awe of the Cebu dancing inmates’ interpretation of the late King of Pop’s hit song “They Don’t Care About Us.”
“They are prisoners but they are also dancers,” said Travis Payne, MJ's choreographer who had also worked with Madonna and Lady Gaga in the past.
The dancing inmates of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) was an instant hit on the Internet and on Youtube when they danced to one of Michael Jackson's signature song “Thriller.”
According to Travis Payne, Michael Jackson saw the dancing inmate's performance and love it. Travis came to Cebu to personally oversee the rehearsals for “They Don’t Care About Us.” He even brought two of Michael Jackson's dancers and danced with the inmates.
Sony Music tapped an all-Filipino crew to shoot the dance routine of the Cebu dancing inmates. Another good news is... the “They Don’t Care About Us” footage may end up as part of Michael Jackson's “This Is It” concert DVD which will soon be launched worldwide.
