Miss Japan crowned Miss Universe 2007

She (Riyo Mori) nervously grabbed the hands of first runner-up Natalia Guimaraes before the winner was announced – this is how my friend described Riyo Mori before she bagged the Miss Universe 2007.

I didn’t watch the Miss Universe 2007 but Berna is an avid fan of these kinds of pageants. She can even tell you who won miss photogenic of this year and whose was the Mss Universe of that year. She is a human catalogue of beauty queens.

Anyway, back to Miss Universe 2007

A 20-year-old dancer from Japan who dreamed of having her own international dance school, was crowned as Miss Universe 2007. She trembled in awe as the diamond-and-pearl-studded crown was placed on her head – I was laughing as my friend vividly described Riyo Mori when she won the Miss Universe 2007.

Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza of Puerto Rico crowned her successor at the end of the two-hour telecast with the headpiece valued at USD 250,000.

Riyo Mori will travel the world for a year on behalf of charities and pageant sponsors.

Miss Philippines, Anna Theresa Licaros won the Miss Photogenic Award

The general public voted on http://www.nbc.com for the delegate who exemplifies beauty through the lens of a camera. She received a $1,000 cash prize and a trophy from Rogaska Crystal.

And berna’s comment on that was – LAGI NAMANG MISS PHOTOGENIC ANG PHILIPPINES…

What can I say… di naman ako nanonood ng mga ganitong pageant… except for swimsuits na… hehehe ^_^
